GETTING STARTED
You are going to be part of something wonderful. Because this CRAFT Connect: Prevention group answer some basic questions people have. learning experience may be a little different from other experiences you have been part of, we will Each of the seven virtual sessions lasts 90 minutes. Sessions are designed to be used in facilitated group meetings or in self-directed study with friends and family.
CRAFT Connect groups work like a council. Trained CRAFT Connect facilitators do not lecture the group or speak more than any other group member. They just follow the materials as written and trust in the group. Facilitators are responsible for creating a positive, respectful, and enjoyable learning environment. They celebrate the progress of group members and help them feel successful. In-between meetings they encourage those who may be struggling.
Groups work best when everyone is actively present; shares their ideas; completes the activities; loves and supports each other; works on their promises during the week, and shares what they learned in the next meeting. You will see the following key words throughout this workbook, following these directions will give you a better experience:
Think: Individuals quietly consider, meditate or write for two to three minutes.
Read: One person reads aloud for the whole group. (If the paragraphs are numbers, follow the order.)
Talk About It: Group members share thoughts for two to four minutes.
Activity: Group members work individually or with others for the specified time.
Commit: Each person promises to make changes during the week.
To help strengthen the bond between parents, caregivers, and children, each session of the CRAFT Connect study includes a "Family Chat" Discussion Guide. This guide is designed to be a short, 20- minute conversation that allows you to share what you've learned in session with your family. By taking time to discuss and reflect on the insights from your study together, you create an opportunity for open communication, mutual understanding, and collaboration. These chats are meant to bring everyone closer, ensuring that the lessons and strategies you’re learning are understood and supported by everyone at home. This not only reinforces the material but also helps build a stronger, more connected family unit.
