Support Groups Overview

You are not alone! On going help during your loved one’s treatment and recovery.

How Does Group Work Benefit Me?

  • Support Group learning experiences have been proven around the world to help people change their lives. Learning within a support group environment is a powerful way to understand your role in your loved one’s recovery. Well supported scientific evidence shows that studying with others makes a big difference in our learning.

  • Group skills training enhances capabilities to change and is used when the abilities needed to solve a problems and attain desired goals are not currently in our “behavioral repertoire” or show up in the wrong places or times. It is designed to increase our abilities so we can engage in more effective behaviors – get what we really want and do what the moment calls for.

  • CRAFT Connects’ training methods include definitions, illustrations with examples, modeling with guided practice and feedback. Groups help to integrate skills into daily life and generalize and increase the frequency of their use.

  • Trying new skills within real-world situations while finding support from other CRAFT Members will help you reflect and make sense of how things are going. At CRAFT Connect Family Support groups you will join others who are empathetic, nonjudgmental, genuine, respectful, steer clear of confrontation and imposing their own solutions. We encourage hope and compassion for all.
